I tried two of the new Campbell’s Gourmet Bisque soups the other day. I had high hopes for both of them. The flavors sounded really good and I usually like the more “gourmet” soups in boxes that they sell instead of that in cans. I’m not sure if it’s a mental thing, or if they are really better. I loved the smell of the tomato coconut one when I opened the container and was heating the soup, however I was not a fan of the flavor. It just tasted weird to me. I’ve never had this soup “for real” at a Thai restaurant, so I have nothing to compare it to. It didn’t taste like a tomato with a really strange seasoning. Again, it smelled wonderful in the box so I was expecting to like it, but I just didn’t. I ended up not eating most of it. The sweet potato soup was a little better, but again it was overall not something I enjoyed. I eat and cook a lot of soup and neither of these will be purchased again.
I was shopping at Lowes the other day and I saw these candle chandelier light fixtures that I absolutely love. I still have some tired outdated brass fixture over my kitchen table that I’ve wanted to literally replace since I moved into my house, but have never gotten around to it. I think it might finally be time. These look so medieval to me and like they belong in a castle’s great hall or something. I am a little worried they may not produce a lot of light though? It’s hard to tell in the store.
It’s November 1st today, so it’s officially time to start thinking about Christmas, so you can be properly prepared for the holidays. The sooner you start your shopping, the better. I’m not sure what colors are going on the Christmas tree this year. I kind of think it’s going to be a white year. But not 100% yet.
I just made roasted pumpkin seeds over the weekend after Pumpkin carving was finished. It’s a yearly tradition. We always try new pumpkin seed recipes each year. Rotating between butter, spices, oil and such. This year I think I finally found the WINNER – my favorite roasted pumpkin seed recipe ever.
Here it is:
About 1 cup pumpkin seeds fresh from a pumpkin. Clean in a colander until all orange pumpkin stuff is gone.
1 Tsp olive oil
1 Tsp Worcester sauce
Sprinkle with Garlic salt
Roast for 50 minutes in a 300 degree oven.
After you clean the pumpkin seeds put them in a bowl and cover with the Worcester sauce, olive oil and mix well until everything is coated. Then generously sprinkle with garlic salt. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 50 minutes or so in a 300 degree oven. Take them out early if they look like they are getting too dark or starting to burn. The pumpkin seeds develop a great roasted flavor this way and I was really pleased with the results. Much more of a savory snack this way and more like a roasted nut, then the popcorn flavor they have went cooked in butter.
I noticed when I was removing the shells from chickpeas, how creepy the shells look and they resemble human skin to me. This could be an easy something to use in a specimen bottle and set around as Halloween decor for a party. A can of chickpeas (also called garbanzo beans) can be purchased for under a $1 in the canned vegetable isle of the grocery store and it only took me about 10-15 minutes to remove the shells from the entire 15 oz can.

These are the chickpeas after the shells are removed, use them to top salads, or roast them with different herbs or spices for a snack.
I was really excited when I saw this Star Wars pumpkin carving kit at Target. But then I looked at the designs and it was phantom menace and I don’t really like any of them that much, they could of done a much better job with the characters. The only one that I even kinda liked was Yoda, what do you think?
Why is a glove compartment called a glove compartment? Did people used to have a lot of gloves they needed to store in their cars?
